Electric Association holds Annual Meeting
April 8, 2006: The 69th Annual
Meeting of Stearns Electric Association was held on Saturday,
April 8 in Melrose. Nearly 850 members attended the meal and
Annual Meeting. During the Annual Meeting, Board President
Robert Zenner and General Manager Rick Banke gave reports on the
activities and financial condition of the Cooperative. “Stearns
Electric Association continues to grow in size and with this
growth we still remain focused on providing our members with the
most efficient and affordable electricity,” said Stearns
Electric Association President and CEO, Rick Banke.
The guest speaker of the meeting was David Saggau, President and
CEO of Great River Energy (GRE). Mr. Saggau explained GRE
extended forecast to meet the growing needs of electricity in
the state. Other presentation included, Nominating Committee
Chair, Roger Hommerding and Operation Round Up® President, Steve
Notch. Since, the programs inception of Operation Round Up® in
1993, over $860,000 has been awarded to local organizations.
The results from the Board of Director’s election were announced
at the meeting. Three board positions were up for election.
Robert Zenner of Belgrade, was re-elected in District Five and
Dennis O’Donnell of St. Joseph, was re-elected in District Nine.
Randy Rothstein of Richmond was elected for District Four. The
Board of Director position is a three year term. At an
organizational meeting after the Annual Meeting, the following
officers were elected by Board members: President – Robert
Zenner, Vice President – Harlan Jopp and Secretary/Treasurer –
Arnold Blommel. Other directors include Richard Schwientek,
Arlene Falzone, Francis Januschka, Randy Rothstein, George
Peters and Dennis O’Donnell.
Stearns Electric Association is a Touchstone Energy® Electric
Cooperative providing electricity to more than 20,000 members in
parts of six counties including Stearns, Todd, Morrison,
Kandiyohi, Pope and Douglas. In addition to the headquarters in
Melrose, the Cooperative operates a district office in St.
Cloud.
