Stearns Electric Association returns
$500,000 back to members
December 8, 2007:
Nearly 1,600 Stearns Electric Association members
attended the annual Holiday Open House at Trobec’s Event Center
in St. Joseph on December 8. The event was a great time for
Cooperative members to visit with families and friends and pick
up their share of Cooperative profits as $500,000 in capital
credits were distributed to members. The Cooperative also
celebrated a milestone as the Operation Round Up program
surpassed $ 1 million in total giving since its inception in
1993. Nearly 2300 grants have been awarded to non-profit and
community organizations over that time period.
“We are proud that Stearns Electric has been refunding capital
credits since the late 1960’s,” said Bob Zenner, Board President
of Stearns Electric Association. “As a Cooperative, the members
are also the owners. Any margin at the end of each year is
allocated back to the members”. This year’s average capital
credit check to members was $26.08. Checks will be mailed to
members unable to attend the open house.
Members attending the open house enjoyed delicious holiday
treats and children were able to share their Christmas wish list
with Santa and see his sleigh and reindeer. Members also viewed
the premiere of the Operation Round up video that highlights the
many non-profit and community organizations that have benefited
from the Operation Round Up program. Members may go to
www.StearnsElectric.org
and see this video at any time.
