What is a Heat
Pump?
Air
source heat pumps
Electric rate: 4.2¢/kWh
The
air source heat pump looks and operates like a central air
conditioner.
These units offer an
environmentally friendly heating and cooling alternative all
year long.
In heating mode, air
source heat pumps transfer heat from outdoor air into your home,
reducing your reliance on your fossil fuel sources. Air source
heat pumps are up to 300 percent efficient. Alone they will heat
50% of the heating season. In conjunction with an electric
plenum heater, heat pumps will heat 90% of the heating season.
In cooling mode, air
source heat pumps work like an air conditioner, transferring
heat and humidity out of your home, keeping it cool and
comfortable all summer.
Air source
and ground source
heat pumps are eligible for the Energy Wise
program with reduced 4.2¢/kWh rate.
Energy Wise
Program:
When enrolling in the Energy Wise program, your air source heat
pump may shut off for a period of time during the heating
season.
Past history has
shown that the normal controlling time for the heating season
is usually between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. During the cooling
season it may be cycled (15 min. on-15 min. off) usually
between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. The electric rate for this program is
4.2¢/kWh.
