In addition, Stearns Electric only gathers personally identifiable data, such as names, addresses and e-mail addresses, etc., when voluntarily submitted by a visitor via an on-line form. Red Flag Rules
Identity theft is a growing problem. An identity thief uses an individual’s personally identifying information to open new accounts or misuse existing accounts, which causes disruptions and complications for both consumers and businesses. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires financial institutions, creditors, and utilities to implement the Red Flags Rule to verify identity.
When you contact Stearns Electric Association for information about your account, you will be asked to verify your identity. In most cases, we will ask for your social security number and use the last four digits for proper identification. The primary account holder must make special arrangements for others, including a spouse, to access account information.
